Abby Shah Therapy
Welcome
I’m glad you’re here. Finding a therapist that is a good fit for you can feel daunting. Here's what you may want to know about working with me.
My Approach
In my practice, I enjoy supporting clients in exploring the "messy middle" that can emerge during life transitions. For new parents, this might look like discussing the balance between demanding careers, raising a family, and maintaining their own identities. For adults, this might mean taking a step back and reexamining old patterns that are no longer serving them. For couples and families, our work could involve fostering effective communication and flexibility as individuals change and grow. For teens, we may explore shifting identities and values as they build independence.

My work is informed not only by my formal training as a therapist, but also by my own experiences. I worked in the corporate and tech worlds for 15 years, so I understand the challenges of those environments. I have also built and run programs that address gender bias and provide information and community support for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

My style is relational and non-judgmental. My approach is integrative, meaning that I use a variety of theoretical orientations including humanistic and existential (considering what matters and creates meaning for each of us), psychodynamic and attachment-based (examining how our early experiences may impact our patterns today), and post-modern (taking into account the ways the systems in which we live affect our human experiences).
